Google Glass, Oculus Rift, and SpiderSense!
We have an amazing line-up for this month's Meetup, with a trio of wearable digital toys.
Our headliner is Victor Mateevitsi, the inventor of SpiderSense, "a wearable device that projects the wearer’s near environment on the skin and allows for directional awareness of objects around him".
I'll have my Google Glass that people can try out, and Brian Schrank will be bringing along an Oculus Rift to play with as well.
Schedule:
5:30 - 6:00: Networking
6:00 - 7:00: Live demos and presentations
-
Victor Mateevitsi (Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) at UIC) - SpiderSense demo and presentation
-
Brian Schrank (DePaul University) - Demo of Occulus Rift. (And possibly a suprise demo or two on the Occulus developed by his students at DePaul University's College of Computing and Digital Media.)
-
Patrick O'Shaughnessey (Patched Reality) - Google Glass and AR News. I'll share my first month's experience with Glass, and the latest and greatest news from the Augmented World.
-
Joseph Juhnke (The Jig Lab) - Highly accurate camera-based 3D scanning.
7:00 - onward... Member announcements, Networking, and trying out Google Glass and Oculus Rift
Looking forward to seeing you!
Best,
Patrick
