"It's called exercise, it's good for you!" ~ Keoni

Join Tamera, Nathaniel, and the crew as we embark on a memorable hike in honor of our esteemed leader Kyoni. As we trace his footsteps in the PNW, we'll be fulfilling one of his last wishes: scattering some of his ashes in a place he dearly loved. Kyoni often spoke of Maple Pass as a "magical" haven, and anyone who's been there knows why.

Maple Pass, an 8-mile loop, is not for the faint-hearted but is the epitome of Washington's hiking splendors. Traverse through enchanting larch forests, pass by serene alpine lakes, and find yourself amidst vibrant blueberry meadows. And as the trail culminates, be ready for a mesmerizing summit that boasts unparalleled views of the North Cascade peaks. Echoing Kyoni's sentiments, “Get out and have fun, it’s not that bad outside!”

AFTER OUR HIKE, WE WILL GATHER FOR DINNER. LET'S SUPPORT OUR LOCAL EATERIES!

For everyone's convenience, we'll be coordinating carpools at the designated park and ride. Kindly note, that DRIVERS WILL BE REIMBURSED. If you're hitching a ride, please ensure you hand over $35 to the drivers. This covers fuel, maintenance, park fees, and the occasional coffee break.

KINDLY BRING ALONG:

  • Cash or Venmo for coffee, treats, dinner, and rider fee.
  • Your trusty hiking boots and a plastic bag for after the hike.
  • Gear suited for the weather: This includes (but isn't limited to) trekking poles, spare clothes, protection against cold and rain, sunblock, insect repellent, shades, a hat, and any other essentials you reckon necessary. If you're new to this, a quick online search for the '10 Hiking Essentials' might be handy.
  • Refreshments and additional water (or a water filter) – remember, it's an 8-mile challenge!

WTA's full description of the hike can be found here.

Please note: All hike hosts volunteer their time, and organizers hold no liability. By choosing to participate, you recognize the inherent risks and are responsible for your own safety. It's vital to be informed about the event and be conscious of your physical limits.
