Maple Pass Fall Colors, Kyoni's Final Hike Celebrate Life with Friends

"It's called exercise, it's good for you!" ~ Kyoni

Join us in a heartfelt farewell hike dedicated to our cherished leader, Kyoni. His final wishes expressed a desire to scatter some of his ashes in what he fondly termed his "magical" place in the PNW — Maple Pass. And truly, anyone who's ventured there would heartily concur.

Maple Pass, an 8-mile loop, epitomizes Washington's hiking splendors. Journey through verdant larch forests, alongside tranquil alpine lakes, and marvel at meadows painted with hues of blueberries. The climax is a breathtaking summit, offering a 360° panorama of the jagged North Cascade peaks. Echoing Kyoni's words, “Get out and have fun, it’s not that bad outside!”

POST-HIKE, LET'S GATHER FOR DINNER: Let's cherish local businesses and the flavors they offer!

Carpool arrangements will be made at the designated park and ride spot. TO ALL OUR DRIVERS, rest assured you will be duly compensated. If you're hitching a ride, a contribution of $35 to the driver would be appreciated, covering fuel, maintenance, cleaning, and park fees.

ESSENTIALS TO BRING:

• Cash or Venmo for your coffee breaks, treats, post-hike meal, and ride contribution.

• Sturdy hiking boots and a plastic bag for them post-adventure.

• Gear appropriate for the conditions: This could include trekking poles, additional socks and attire, layers for potential cold or rain, sunscreen, insect repellent, shades, a hat, and other essential hiking equipment. If you're unsure, a quick search for the '10 Hiking Essentials' should guide you.

• Energy snacks and extra hydration (or a means to filter water) — geared up for the 8-mile challenge.
