## Coolblue’s Journey to AWS with Code
Mike Ciavarella - Senior Cloud Engineer at Coolblue BV
From day one, Coolblue’s journey with AWS has followed the Infrastructure-as-Code philosophy — if it’s not in code, it’s not repeatable, and not deployed. There is no production clicky-clicky. We made the early decision to use AWS CloudFormation for defining our AWS resources. This has posed some practical challenges over time, such as incomplete/delayed CloudFormation support within some AWS products, and how to orchestrate with 3rd party systems.

In this talk, we look at how to use Custom Resources to solve these challenges.
Trigger Warning: Presentation will contain Python code.

## AWS User Group’s battle of the serverless hypes for awsug.nl
Léon Rodenburg (Xebia) and Martijn van Dongen (Binx.io)
Regardless of whether you are a cloud architect, frontend developer or backend guru, hypes are all around. In any existing or new project you have to strike a balance between cool new tech versus familiar old beasts, and there is no right or wrong. What you can do, is make sure that your choices align with the team’s expertise and project constraints. In this talk, we will show you how the serverless hype battle is being fought for Awsug.nl, the new website for the AWS User Group. We will move up and down the hype scale with services like AWS Amplify, AWS AppSync, API Gateway and more.
