Case Study - Designing a Security SaaS the Well-Architected Way: Lessons from Migrating Glasstrail’s Backend Services to AWS
Glasstrail is an External Security Attack Surface Management (EASM) SaaS platform with backend services recently migrated to AWS and built with the AWS Well-Architected Framework as a first-class design constraint.
This talk explores how Well-Architected principles influenced not only the runtime architecture, but also how we design, build and deliver the platform backend. Carel will share practical insights into best-practices for structuring a secure, scalable SaaS backend on AWS, alongside how we optimised our Solution Development Lifecycle to enable rapid, reliable delivery. The session highlights concrete patterns, tooling choices, and lessons learned from building and evolving a security product where speed, safety, and operational discipline must coexist.
