Melbourne AWS User Group Monthly Meetup

Details

Our regular monthly meetup (on the last Wednesday of every month).

Arrive at 6:00 pm for food, beverages and hard-core racing action! Presentations kick off from 6:30 pm.

A huge thanks to our Gold sponsor Innablr (https://innablr.com.au) for making these events possible across 2019.

Don't forget if you can't make it on the night you can still watch the live stream: https://melb.awsug.org.au/live

----

This month we'll have the AWS DeepRacer track out for the first part of the meetup again. If you've seen @arjen's DeepRacer introduction from the last meetup (https://youtu.be/vC24wX7Ll34) and want to try your hand at racing, make sure you bring along your trained models to try it out on our two DeepRacer cars.

(If you're lucky enough to have picked up your own DeepRacer car feel free to bring it along as well!)

This is also your opportunity to practice on a real track ahead of the dedicated DeepRacer events at the Melbourne AWS Community Day (https://aws.amazon.com/events/aws-community-day-melbourne/) and the DeepRacer Nights meetup (https://www.meetup.com/DeepRacer-Nights/).

There has been a lot of interest in the DeepRacer, but not a lot of participation. So we'll give the track one last go before reverting to our old meetup format. Feedback on this or anything related to the format of our events is always welcome so please hit us up on Slack, via email (melbourne@awsug.org.au).

----

We still have space for a second lightning talk, so if you're interested in speaking about your experiences or an area of expertise get in touch: https://melb.awsug.org.au/submit-talk/

First time speakers are welcome! You don't need to have a full presentation deck and "interesting" topic to speak about – some of the most interesting presentations we've seen are basically "here is a cool tool or trick I found". If you have an idea and are unsure reach out to @bok on Slack or email melbourne@awsug.org.au.

# From Serverless to Observerless

  • Pete Yandell

Level 200

Cutting through the BS to seed, build, deploy and then crash a Serverless application in under 30 minutes. A live-coding talk in three parts where I will seed and deploy the build pipeline for a Serverless application. Next, I will deploy the application code and take it for a spin. Finally, I'll overload the application and use AWS X-Ray to see what's broken.

# AWS achieved PROTECTED ⚡️

  • Jean-Manuel Becker

Level 100

A short note on acronyms and definitions and what it means for your Enterprise and Public Sector Agencies.
