AWS Jam – A Gamified Learning Experience

AWS Cloud Club will be hosting an interactive AWS Jam, a gamified learning experience designed to introduce students to core cloud computing concepts through hands-on challenges. The event will feature 12 curated challenges across four key areas of Amazon Web Services: AWS Basics, Cybersecurity, Website Hosting, and Agentic AI, with three challenges in each category.
Participants will work in teams of up to four members, allowing each team member to focus on a specific topic area while collaborating to complete the full set of challenges. This structure encourages both specialization and teamwork, making the event accessible to students of all experience levels, including beginners.
The AWS Jam will run for three hours and will emphasize practical, real-world problem solving using AWS tools and services. Teams will compete to complete challenges accurately and efficiently, with prizes awarded to the top three performing teams.
Prizes:

• 1st Place: $50 Amazon Gift Card (per team)
• 2nd Place: $30 Amazon Gift Card (per team)
• 3rd Place: $20 Amazon Gift Card (per team)

Audience:
Open to all Penn State students, particularly those interested in computer science, data science, computer engineering, and information technology. No prior AWS experience is required.
Additional Notes:
Participants are encouraged to bring laptops. The event is designed to be beginner-friendly while still offering engaging challenges for more experienced students.
