• AWS Console as "command center of the cloud kingdom"
• Free tier as "abundant resources of Emerald"
• IAM as "security gates and access keys"
• Billing alerts as "resource crystals monitoring system"
• Root account as "master gateway key" (protect it!)
• Creating IAM users as "issuing explorer credentials"

The primary goal of this workshop is to empower all DCCI members to successfully create and secure their AWS accounts, provide them with a foundational understanding of cloud computing, and instill cost-conscious practices from day one.

The session will be divided between two speakers.

Roan Manansala, focusing on Foundational Concepts and Strategic Overview, will cover cloud computing fundamentals, an AWS overview, the concept of global infrastructure (regions/AZs), different AWS pricing models, and a strategic guide to utilizing the AWS Free Tier.

Raphael Johnathan Flores, focusing on Live Console Demonstration and Account Security, will then lead a live, step-by-step AWS Console walkthrough for account creation. This will be immediately followed by demonstrations on setting up essential security measures, including billing alerts and budgets, creating dedicated IAM users following the principle of least privilege, implementing MFA for the root account, and addressing common troubleshooting issues and FAQs.
