Under the Hood: Powering AI Integrations with Model Context Protocol

The AI Innovators Society and AWS Cloud Club at UMN are coming together for a deep dive into Model Context Protocol (MCP). This event will feature a presentation on MCP as well as a lab that walks you through how MCP connects AI models to external tools and services. It standardizes communication and removes the need for complex custom integrations. Throughout the workshop you will build MCP components like at CLI chatbot and create your own MCP server. This workshop will be take-home and you’ll have 48 hours to complete it once started.
