About us
We're the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of AWS's Global User Group Community, bringing together builders, architects, and cloud enthusiasts across North Texas to learn, share, and network around everything AWS.
Join the community: Get involved in the conversation on-demand through our WhatsApp community.
Whether you're deploying your first EC2 instance or running production workloads at scale, this group is for you. Our meetups feature talks from local practitioners and AWS experts on topics like:
- Cloud architecture & well-architected practices
- Security, identity, and governance in AWS
- Serverless, containers, and modern app development
- Cost optimization and FinOps
- AI/ML and generative AI on AWS
- Real-world lessons from migrations and incidents
Who should join: Anyone interested in AWS and cloud computing — from students and career-changers to senior architects. No experience required, just curiosity.
Want to speak or host? We're always looking for speakers to share what they're building or learning, and for companies willing to host a meetup at their office. Reach out through the group if you're interested.
AWS Partner interested in sponsoring? We'd love to hear from you — message the organizers.

[AWS UG] Building Intuition on LLM
New Frisco Library, 8000 Dallas pkwy, At intersection of Dallas pkwy and cotton gin, Frisco, TX, USMost of us use AI through a chat application. You type, something happens somewhere, and an answer comes back. At the end of the session, you’ll have a mental map LLM through analogies. Take home a model running a real model locally on your iPhone with no internet and no server behind it.
We'll be joined by Hariprasad Sudharshan, who will build up from first principles what a Large Language Model actually is, then take us through the concepts of open model with practical insights.
- What open-weights models are, and why that's not the same as open source
- One division you can do in your head that predicts how fast any model runs on any hardware
- The same model file measured on an iPhone, a laptop, and AWS Bedrock, where the maths holds and where it breaks
What to expect
- A beginner-friendly first half that enhances you AI vocabulary and build intution.
- Hands-on: you'll leave with a model running offline on your own iPhone, free and yours to keep
- Bring a charged iPhone with ~3 GB free storage
- Q&A and networking
- Refreshments
