Bedrock Basics & AI Engineering for Humans
Details
We’re excited to host Bedrock Basics & AI Engineering for Humans
Stop fine-tuning models. Start engineering the context around them.
Everyone's first instinct with enterprise AI is to fine-tune. It's almost always the wrong move: slow, expensive, and stale the moment your codebase changes.
This talk walks through the alternative that actually ships, context engineering, and shows you how to build a real RAG system on AWS Bedrock without a research team or a GPU budget.
We go from the ground up (what an embedding actually is, how retrieval really works) to a running streaming chatbot end to end. Along the way: the two patterns for feeding AI your organizational knowledge (ADRs and Skills in the repo, and RAG on Bedrock), Bedrock in plain terms, choosing the right model instead of the biggest one, Knowledge Bases vs. rolling your own, and S3 Vectors as a cheaper replacement for Pinecone or pgvector.
A live Spring Pet Clinic case study shows the difference between AI with zero ADRs and AI with three. You leave with the architecture, the real costs, and actual Terraform and Python, not a vision slide.
Speaker: Brian Carpio, Founder of OutcomeOps LLC and former AWS ProServe.
