About us
Taking the cloud offline - a meetup group to get real people into a real place to discuss virtual stuff. We aim to run monthly meetups focusing on hands-on labs, talks and discussions around best-practice implementation across the AWS offering. Join if you're a cloud specialist in your organisation, a developer or simply interested in learning. All abilities are welcome, but be prepared to get in-depth.

- Be inclusive: We welcome people from all stages of their AWS journey, from students and beginners to seasoned architects.
- Be respectful: Disagreements are part of learning, but personal attacks or exclusionary behaviour are not.
- Be professional: Remember that our events and social media groups are professional environments. Discriminatory or harassing language and imagery are not appropriate for any venue, including talks, workshops, or LinkedIn engagement.
Harassment Includes:

- Unwelcome comments regarding a person’s lifestyle choices and practices (e.g. food, health, parenting, or employment).
- Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behaviour in spaces where they are not appropriate.
- Physical contact or simulated physical contact (e.g. textual descriptions like “hug”) without consent.
- Threats of violence or incitement of violence towards any individual.
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
- Sustained disruption of discussion during talks or presentations.
- Unwelcome sexual attention or continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease.
Consequences of Misbehaviour
Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the AWS Leeds User Group organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:
- A formal warning.
- Expulsion from the event with no refund (where applicable).
- Removal from the LinkedIn group and other digital channels.
- A ban from attending future Leeds events.
Reporting and Support
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the AWS Leeds organising team immediately.
- In-person: Find an organiser (typically identified by specific badges or announced at the start of the evening).
- Online: Direct message an organiser via Meetup or LinkedIn.
We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse. We will not name victims without their affirmative consent.
