April: Agentic Actions with Bedrock
Details
Welcome to the April edition of the AWS Leeds User Group! This month, we are thrilled to be hosted by Nimble Approach at the fantastic SCC Leeds office on Globe Road.
We’re heading back to the South Bank to "take the cloud offline" and get some real people in a room to talk about all things AWS. Whether you're a seasoned Cloud Architect, a curious developer, or just starting your AWS journey, come along for some top-tier technical sessions, networking, and the usual refreshments.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Agenda
- 18:00 – 18:20: Doors open: Food, drinks, and networking
- 18:20 – 19:00: Speaker 1: Luke Towell
- 19:00 – 19:10: Quick comfort break
- 19:10 – 19:50: Speaker 2: Adam Slack
- 19:50 – 20:00: Community news & Wrap up
- 20:00 – onwards: To the pub! (We’re spoilt for choice on Globe Road, so we'll pick from the local gems nearby).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaker 1: Luke Towell, Senior Consultant @ Burendo
Talk Title: An introduction and demonstration of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
Talk Description: The title says it all, really. Amazon Bedrock AgentCore is at the forefront of building agentic platforms at scale, and Luke is here to show us how it actually works in the wild.
In this session, Luke will provide a technical overview of Bedrock AgentCore and its features. He’ll then move into the "how-to" by walking us through the plan and implementation of a multi-agent system using LangGraph and Bedrock AgentCore.
This talk is likely to tick your boxes if you’re interested in:
- [x] Mastering AWS GenAI services
- [x] Bedrock & Agentic technologies
- [x] Dungeons and Dragons
- [x] Witnessing (highly likely) sketchy live demos
About Luke: Luke is a Senior Consultant at Burendo with a passion for building complex systems and occasionally breaking them in front of a live audience.

Speaker 2: Adam Slack, Head of Engineering @ Nimble Approach
Talk Title: Orchestrating Agentic Systems: Building Self-Organising Agents using A2A
Talk Description: While a single AI agent can be a powerful tool, a monolithic agent can quickly become complicated and difficult to maintain. Many of the challenges are familiar architectural problems: unclear boundaries, tight coupling, hidden state, brittle integrations and workflows that are difficult to reason about. To solve this, Adam introduces A2A as a way of applying standard architectural patterns to agentic AI, helping teams modularise LLM-based workflows and allow specialised agents to communicate seamlessly.
In this session, Adam will move beyond the theory with a live demo of a multi-agent system. He will break down the “High-Level Design” of the system, exploring how individual agents use “Agent Cards” to describe their skills, advertise their services to other agents, and use “Tasks” to manage discrete executions. You’ll learn how to design agents so they can self-organise and solve complex, multi-stage problems across different platforms and cloud providers without vendor lock-in.
This talk is likely to tick your boxes if you’re interested in:
- [x] Modular AI Architecture: Learning how to apply familiar architectural patterns by separating concerns across a system of specialised agents.
- [x] A2A Deep Dives: Understanding the implementation of Agent Cards, Messages, Tasks and Registry systems.
- [x] Scaling GenAI: Mastering long-running async tasks and building resilient, dynamically routed workflows.
- [x] Real-world AWS "Gotchas": Avoiding regional traps, IAM burdens, and quota hurdles when deploying at scale.
About Adam: Adam Slack is Head of Engineering at Nimble Approach, where he works across cloud architecture, engineering strategy and AI-enabled systems. He has supported clients across sectors, including financial services, media, healthcare and cyber, with a focus on turning emerging technologies into practical, production-ready solutions.
