Have you ever wanted to build your own user-generated content social application like Twitch? Maybe you’re building a remote learning platform, or trainer-led fitness app? What about streaming live sports or real-money gaming? All of this is easy to do within the AWS cloud that you’re familiar with. In this session, we’ll learn how to get started with low-latency (2-5 seconds) HLS based live streams with an AWS service called Amazon IVS that integrates with CloudWatch, EventBridge, AWS Lambda, S3, and more! You can even add scalable and responsive chat alongside your live stream. We’ll also see how to add real-time streaming with less than 250 ms for guest host streams, PvP chat, and more! In this session, you’ll see how Amazon IVS lets you focus on your application’s user experience, not the massive network and infrastructure required to deliver global video at scale.

  Todd is a Principal Developer Advocate for Amazon Interactive Video Service (Amazon IVS) at Twitch. Todd has been writing code since 2004 and is passionate about technology, code, and helping developers learn new things. He has a background in writing and a love for technology and theater and is married to his best friend. Todd and his wife live in the North Georgia mountains with their 2 kids, 10 chickens, 2 dogs, and a cat.
