- Tech Talk @ 6:00 PM: Beyond the Firewall: Why Cyber Resilience Is the New Bar for Cloud Teams by Jarlath Bloom
For years, "cyber security" has been shorthand for keeping bad actors out โ firewalls, IAM policies, patching, endpoint protection. But ransomware, insider threats, and supply-chain attacks have proven that prevention alone isn't enough: eventually, something gets through. Cyber resilience is the broader discipline of ensuring an organization can keep operating โ or recover fast โ when prevention fails. In this talk, we'll unpack the difference between security and resilience, walk through the core pillars of a resilient architecture (identify, protect, detect, respond, recover), and look at how these concepts map onto real-world AWS environments using native and open-source tooling. This is a vendor-neutral, concept-first talk aimed at engineers, architects, and ops folks who want a mental model for "what happens after the breach"
