🍂 Rentrée time.

Summer's over, the second semester is on, and AWS User Group Porto is kicking it off with a first: a joint edition with OutSystems User Group Porto. Two communities that rarely share a stage, together for one evening. Two practitioner talks covering both ends of modern software delivery: how to lead and scale low-code ecosystems without drowning in technical debt, and how to build near real-time data platforms without the weight of traditional ETL.

📍 Venue: VA Coworking, Porto
📅 Date: September 8, 2026
Doors open: 18:30

##### 🎙️ Agenda

18:30 Check-in & Networking

19:00 Welcome & Intros AWS User Group Porto, OutSystems User Group Porto & Partners

Talk 1 🎤 What is technical management in OutSystems

The fact that OutSystems allows for faster software development also means it fails faster. Keeping an application ecosystem healthy, with sustainable technical debt and room to scale, takes deliberate technical leadership.
In this session, Ricardo will cover what technical management really means in an OutSystems context, including:

  • Implementation guidelines grounded in best practices
  • Centers of excellence for application and team support
  • Continuous training across everyone contributing to the ecosystem
  • How all of this compounds into knowledge growth, experience, and quality

Speaker: Ricardo Pereira, OutSystems Factory Manager | Tech Lead

Talk 2 🎤 Building a Modern Event-Driven Data Platform with AWS & Snowflake

Many organizations need data available for analytics within minutes, but traditional ETL based on scheduled jobs adds latency, operational complexity, and wasted compute.
Rafael will walk through a real-world architecture built for a customer that needed fresh data every 2 to 5 minutes. Instead of a pipeline with multiple scheduled executions, the team designed an event-driven flow where the only scheduled component is the extraction from the source API. Everything downstream is triggered by events.
Expect a practical look at how EventBridge, Lambda, Amazon S3, and SNS integrate with Snowflake through Snowpipe Streaming and Dynamic Tables, plus the architectural decisions, trade-offs, and lessons learned in production. You'll leave with a blueprint for event-driven pipelines that cut orchestration complexity while delivering data with minimal latency.

Speaker: Rafael Arruda, Data Engineer at Best in Bi Solutions

20:30+ Catering, drinks & community networking 🍕🍺
