Details

Come join us for an evening with the AWS Lambda and Alexa teams. Speakers and topics:

Lambda ~

Vyom Nagrani is a Sr. Product Manager for AWS Lambda, a compute service that runs your code in response to events and automatically manages the compute resources for you. Lambda helps developers think about applications in a new way, by creating simple event handlers that respond to updates from Amazon S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, SNS, and other services, as well as directly from web and mobile apps. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan, and has previous experience across Product Management, Product Marketing, and Product Engineering.

Session Abstract: Getting Started with Serverless Architectures

Serverless architectures allow you to build and run applications and services without having to manage infrastructure. With serverless architectures, your application still runs on servers, but all the server management is done by AWS.

In this talk, you will learn how to build applications and services using a serverless architecture. We will discuss how you can use AWS Lambda to run code for any type of application or backend service; Amazon DynamoDB to store application data with high scalability and redundancy; and Amazon API Gateway to create and manage secure API endpoints. We will run through a demo setting up a web application using this architecture, and we will discuss best practices and patterns used by our customers to run serverless applications.
