AWS GameDay: Microservices Magic

Details

Join us for AWS GameDay, a one-day in-person game day event showcasing skills for high-speed container deployment, iteration and identification, and troubleshooting of problems. You will work with services such as Amazon EC2, AWS Fargate, AWS Lambda and Amazon DynamoDB. We'll share with you the range of ways that you can leverage AWS services using gamified, hands-on learning.

Participants will take on the role of employees at Unicorn Rentals who are tasked with running a set of microservices for their CTO. They will earn points by deploying services and by responding to security events.

Please note: If you plan to participate in AWS GameDay with your team, each participant must register individually. Number of participants per team should not exceed 5.

Featured speakers:
- Egor Miasnikov, Senior Solutions Architect, AWS
- Igor Sharfmesser, Senior Solutions Architect, AWS
- Almas Moldakanov, Account Manager, AWS

About GameDay
AWS GameDay is a gamified learning event that challenges participants to use AWS solutions to solve real-world technical problems in a team-based setting. Unlike traditional workshops, GameDays are open-ended and non-prescriptive to give participants the freedom to explore and think outside the box.

Game Scenario
Unicorn.Rentals is back in action seeking to migrate off slow sub-optimal legacy services and onto a faster and more reliable set of microservices. Since the DevOps team all quit last week, Unicorn.Rentals is reliant on the new-hire staff who have joined us today. The CTO has read about microservices and decided this is the way we should now run things. To prevent any downtime, we are adopting a "microservices-mesh" approach where every independent DevOps team runs the same set of microservices. That way, if things fail - and they will fail - not everything goes down. At least, that's what we hope.
