Hey everyone!
We’re back with another exciting AWS User Group meetup, this time focusing on security in the cloud – from building practical detection & response capabilities with AWS native services, to exploring what the future of the “Agentic SOC” could mean for defenders.

📢The Talks

1. Building a baseline security detection and response capability in AWS
Speaker: George Papakyriakopoulos, CISO @ Skroutz
In this session, we will explore how we can build and operate a baseline security detection and response capability in AWS using mostly AWS native services, the good, the bad, the next steps, and the lessons we learned along the (hard) way @ Skroutz"

About the speaker:
George is a former offensive security specialist & red teamer turned CISO @ Skroutz. After many years of working as a penetration tester, senior red teamer, security consultant, and cloud security advisor for Fortune 500 companies across Europe and the Middle East, he returned to Greece to finally cross to the "blue side" and lead the efforts of building an end-to-end security capability for Skroutz from scratch. For the last 3 years, he has also led the efforts of building a future-proof, secure data center architecture on AWS on behalf of the company.

2. Beyond the hype of the “Agentic SOC”
Speaker: Michael Baker, Principal Security Architect @ Panther
In this talk I will discuss forms the “Agentic SOC” could take and how these new capabilities can be used to tilt the playing field more in favour of defenders. With reasoning, knowledge and skill accessible 24/7 what does it mean for human teams and their development. I’ll discuss the big security problems the Agentic SOC is capable of solving and demonstrate how this technology is accessible in products today!

About the speaker:
With over 20 years in security, I'm passionate about leveraging technology to solve complex problems. As Head of Security at Immutable, I spearheaded cyber risk management, linking company-critical risks to non-linear threat models and focusing on product security for their multi-billion dollar treasury and 4M+ user web3 wallet. My work involved deep technical outcomes, including publishing research on state-sponsored attacks and developing response tools. At Canva, I scaled the security team from 5 to 85, developing content moderation solutions, crafting access control strategies and leading customer data protection initiatives. At Amazon, I excelled as a Security Engineer, building adversary detection platforms and developing innovative security services. As a Software Development Manager, I led the vision for Amazon's global Security Intelligence Detection platform. I'm an authentic leader, building high-performance teams, staying at the cutting edge, and turning ideas into kinetic energy. I've been fortunate to speak at top conferences like Black Hat and RSA.
