This one doesn’t have a single theme, just three Cloud enthusiasts sharing their stories: what actually worked (and what didn’t) when building stuff on AWS. From cutting tens of thousands in networking costs, to ditching Kubernetes (yep), to running AI pipelines for CS2 — this meetup is all about real-world AWS war stories.

🎤 Zdenko Vrabel Platform Engineer @ Bytesource
Beyond the Obvious: Cost-Effective AWS Hybrid Cloud Networking
How to save tens of thousands by not following the “default” AWS networking setup. Real hybrid cloud, real limits, real money saved.

🎤 Ivan Barlog, AWS Senior Solutions Architect @ BeeSolve
You probably shouldn't use Kubernetes
Let's discuss why AWS cloud-native serverless architecture might be better fit for your business than Kubernetes abstraction.

🎤 Radek Svoboda, Lead Machine Learning Engineer @ rankacy
Beyond the Demo File: A Deep Dive into Our Big Data and AI Pipeline for CS2 on AWS

  • A quick look at our platform and why we are using AWS. The core AWS services we use to process massive data volumes, along with an honest review of the pros and cons.
  • How we leverage AWS Snowball for secure and efficient large-scale data transfer.
  • Our approach to building data pipelines and training custom AI models - inspired by AWS Summit presentations by F1, Bundesliga and more.
  • Why we also leverage simple on-premise solutions to meet the strict requirements of clients like the military in the AI workloads.
  • Our future plans to accelerate deployment using out-of-the-box services like AWS Glue and SageMaker.

More about the speakers:

🎤 Zdenko Vrábel 🚀 Hi, I'm Zdenko Vrabel, an engineer and consultant from Slovakia. I'm ordinary engineer who is constantly jumping between code and infrastructures. Most of my life I spent as programmer - with touching the code.ut also I was always very close to cloud and on-prem infrastructures, Kubernetes and containers.

🎤 Ivan Barlog As a solutions architect, I oversee the entire project lifecycle, closely collaborating with clients to understand their requirements, expectations, business models, and budget constraints. I translate these insights into precise technical specifications and architecture. I maintain open communication with the project team, ensuring a clear understanding of their needs. My role involves adapting to evolving environments, staying current with the latest technologies, and making informed decisions to facilitate project success.

🎤 Radek Svoboda is an experienced machine learning professional with a PhD specializing in time series forecasting using deep learning models. After dedicating five years to academic research in this area, he transitioned to the industry to solve complex, large-scale problems. Currently, as a Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Rankacy, he leads initiatives in modeling complex behavioral patterns in CS2. His work involves leveraging state-of-the-art Transformer models on massive datasets to derive novel insights into player dynamics.
