Philip Morris International (PMI) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are jointly developing "Prodigy," a transformative project tailored to accelerate PMI's shift to Reduced Risk Products (RRPs). This collaboration aims to revamp manufacturing processes, enhance market responsiveness, and foster digital scalability across PMI's global facilities. Prodigy will create a secure, comprehensive ecosystem, incorporating functionalities like equipment auto-discovery, advanced data processing, and intelligent operational services, anchored in OPC UA standardization for unified equipment communication. This approach is integral to PMI's strategy of expanding its RRP offerings through an agile, data-driven manufacturing platform. The initial phase of Prodigy focuses on digitizing core manufacturing equipment, with future expansions planned to integrate and contextualize a broader range of manufacturing processes.
During the presentation, a special emphasis will be placed on the Information Security aspects of Prodigy. We will highlight the key elements and strategies employed from AWS's Security portfolio to ensure robust protection of manufacturing data and processes. This discussion will offer insights into the security measures and technologies implemented to safeguard this innovative manufacturing ecosystem.
