Title: "From Uncertainty to Assurance: Making Disaster Recovery Repeatable with AWS"

Abstract:
Disaster Recovery (DR) isn’t just about having a backup plan—it’s about building confidence that your systems will recover predictably in the face of a disaster. Fraud prevention is mission-critical for financial institutions, which makes reliability a top concern for Feedzai. Disasters will happen – it’s a matter of when – and having a well-tested DR strategy that is continuously improved is paramount in ensuring business continuity.

This talk explores why DR is important in the space we are in, the trade-offs between single-region and multi-region setups, and how to approach designing systems for failure. We’ll also demonstrate how Feedzai is using AWS Fault Injection Simulator (FIS) and Systems Manager (SSM) to make DR testing a repeatable and automated process, allowing teams to move from uncertainty to assurance.

Title: Code, Connect, Contribute: Your Path into the AWS Ecosystem
Abstract:
In this talk, Tiago Rodrigues will explore how getting involved in AWS Community Programs can accelerate your cloud career. He’ll also present a real-world example through awsornot.com, an open-source project he’s evolving with the help of the AWS User Group Lisbon.

You’ll learn how you can contribute to this community-driven initiative—be it by hacking the site, suggesting features, or opening pull requests. The goal? To co-create a lightweight, evolving project that not only promotes collaboration within the group but can also serve as a showcase for UG Lisbon in future talks—locally and globally.

The project’s current architecture includes Route53, CloudFront, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, DynamoDB, Lambda, and observability with CloudWatch and X-Ray. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to give back to the community, this session will give you practical ways to engage, grow your skills, and make a lasting impact.
