The day for two topics: "GDPR and Schrems II" and "Video on Demand"

Details
This is (probably) the last User Group meeting before the summer. There are two topics for this event, and we will try to stick to the schedule
- 16:00-17:00 (GMT+0): GDPR, Schrems II and CLOUD Act – YES, it’s possible to use the AWS Cloud!
- 17:00-18:00 (GMT+0): Video on Demand - a critical AWS project
Feel free to join one or both topics - we will use the same video-link.
*** GDPR, Schrems II and CLOUD Act – YES, it’s possible to use the AWS Cloud!
2020 was not only the year of COVID but also the year of the Schrems II verdict that has gotten European business worried about how to use the cloud. In this session you will learn the background about Schrems II and other compliance items. You will learn how AWS answers questions in this area and where you can find information if you have your own customers. You will learn what you can do to build applications that comply with regulations like GDPR.
The fun part is that we will also dive into things that you may not know about the AWS Cloud. How it’s operated and how security & compliance is truly the top priority when designing services.
Paul Ahlgren (Regional Leader, Security & Compliance Business Acceleration, Nordics & Baltics at Amazon Web Services) will cover today's topic.
*** Video on Demand - a critical AWS project
Robin Modigh at Knightec will talk about a project completed last year. The scope was to implement a scaleable Video on Demand platform using several AWS services and the timeline for the project was 3 weeks. The services which were used in the project, and will be discussed in the presentation include:
- Frontend - Angular and Typescript
- Backend - Typescript and Serverless (framework)
- AWS-services - DynamoDB, DAX, S3, Lambda, API-Gateway, Cloudfront and much more.
All of these services were included in the project and will be discussed during the event (how they were used, why they were used and more).
It is easy to make mistakes during projects - especially when a lot of different services and modules are created and should connect to each other somehow. In this case, the greatest challenges in the project were not technical but communication related. Althought this did not affect the end users, this was indeed a lesson learned which Robin is bringing as experience into future projects.
