Welcome to the first AWS Skåne Meetup after the summer break.

This time we will take a closer look at developer experience for serverless development in AWS and we have a special guest flying in to do the first talk.

Doors open at 17.30 talks will start around 18.00

A walk through of AWS Lambda powertools (45 min)
In this session we will have the creator behind AWS Well-Architected Serverless Lens (2017) and AWS Powertools speaking.
AWS Lambda Powertools is a developer toolkit to implement Serverless best practices and increase developer velocity. It started as an open-source project in 2020 focused in making Tracing, Logging, and Metrics easier. Fast-forward, Powertools added 13 more features, grew a vibrant community who regularly contributes up to 60% of our releases, now covering a plethora of use cases: REST and GraphQL APIs, Batch processing, Idempotency, Feature Flags, Data Validation, and more.
You’ll learn why this developer toolkit was created, key use cases, and find out how you can adopt common industry and AWS best practices in seconds. We’ll also cover two of the most anticipated new features coming in 2023, and live demo(s).
Speaker: Heitor Lessa is a Principal Solutions Architect at the AWS Developer Acceleration EMEA team.

AWS PowerTools real world use-case (20min)
In this talk we'll take a look a real world use-case for AWS PowerTools. How it can be used to understand your application status.
Speaker: Les Ucinski is AWS Community Builder and fullstack developer at Sigma Technology Cloud

Debugging Lambda functions (30 min)
There are several ways to debug Lambda functions, ranging from using local emulators, wrapping the functions in unit tests or simply polling CloudWatch. Efficient development requires a fast and accurate feedback loop, which none of those methods give.In this talk, I'll demo samp-cli which provides SAM and CDK users with a way of running AWS Lambda functions on the local development machines as if they were a natural part of the deployed cloud architecture - the functions are triggered by real event, run with the same permissions as in the cloud, reads and writes to real databases while the developer enjoys debugging features like breakpoints and profiling.
