Containers with Mythical Mysfits

This Meetup will open with a talk from the user group covering how Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) reduced complexity and achieving a cost reduction of 75%. Running containers in the AWS Cloud allows you to build robust, scalable applications and services therefore the evening will follow with a hands-on lab to showcase the learnings in practice. We hope to help you get started and build modern applications using containers in the cloud with ECS.

During the event we will run a lab that follows a fictional company called Mythical Mysfits, a non-profit dedicated to helping abandoned, and often misunderstood, mysthical creatures find a new forever family. Mythical Mysfits believes that all creatures deserve a second chance. You are their first Full Stack Engineer, and the company needs a more scalable way to show off the inventory of mysfits, and let families adopt them.
The lab involves launching the first Mythical Mysfits adoption website to help introduce these lovable, magical and often mischievous creatures to the world. Using container technologies such as Docker and Amazon ECS of course!

Bring your own laptop for the workshop, and meet fellow user group members over some food and drinks.
