Hands-On Workshop about how to make use of cloud-based AI services

Welcome to our first hands-on workshop about how to make use of cloud-based AI services in order to add ubiquitous intelligence to your applications.

But don’t worry, you don’t have to be a data scientist to be able to successfully run through this workshop. After all, one of our tenets at AWS is to “put machine learning in the hands of every developer” (https://aws.amazon.com/machine-learning/).

If there is demand, we will start the workshop with a quick introduction to the AWS cloud – what it actually is, and furthermore, what its value proposition is. Otherwise, we will directly introduce you to the AWS Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning offering. The focus will be on the high-level AI services for common use cases that you can just consume through an API, without the need to know all the math under the hood. This is going to set the basis for discussing the architecture of a sample workload from the retail context: the analysis of call center recordings with the help of automatic speed recognition (ASR) and natural language processing (NLP), all in a serverless manner.

Another tenet at AWS is to "go build!", so in the second and main part of the workshop we will get our hands dirty, actually build the workload, and deliver results. Again, don’t worry, you don’t have to be a full-stack software developer to be able to successfully run through this workshop. And of course, there will be support from capable AWS colleagues for the hands-on part, so no one will be left alone.

Leave this workshop with a solid understanding about AWS AI services, how simple it is to integrate them into your applications, and how they can be orchestrated in a processing pipeline.

For clarity:

In this workshop, we will not build and train specific machine learning models, but we will apply API-based AI services for ASR and NLP.

People without a software development background can absolutely run through this workshop!
