How to enable employees in AWS using their Google identity
Maki Kato, CTO at Matrix Group International
Matrix Groups uses Google identity as an OpenIDConnect IdP with Cognito to allow users to assume a role that will allow them to
- add their IP address to a Security Group that's applied to web servers
- turn on/off dev servers off hours
The above is implemented in JavaScript from a web app.
This is a creative and simple solution to a common challenge faced by many companies in their AWS adoption.
Finding where to eat and drink using cloud-based spatial data
Michael Goddard, Solution Engineer, Cockroach Labs
Michael is a solution engineer at Cockroach Labs, helping organizations adopt this new breed of cloud-native, distributed SQL technology. His interests include text indexing and search as well as geospatial applications. He is based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Michael will demo a simple map based spatial application targeted at the problem of finding where to eat and drink while visiting a new city (in Europe). The tech stack includes CockroachDB, its PostGIS-like spatial capabilities, Leaflet, MapBox, OpenStreetMap data, Python, and Kubernetes. The demo will show CockroachDB's survivability and zero-downtime operations in K8s, coupled with its spatial query abilities.
