Touching the Cloud: Where Physical Hardware Meets AWS IoT Core
Most AWS projects start in the cloud. This one starts with an $8 sensor on a breadboard. In this talk, Lia walks through building a real-time environment monitoring system from scratch, connecting an ESP32 microcontroller to AWS IoT Core via MQTT, and routing live data. Along the way, she'll share lessons from applying this to a real construction site use case, and show how the same setup works for monitoring your home or your pet's vivarium!

Lia Zhao
Lia is a project coordinator in the building and construction industry in Canberra, with a Master of Computing from ANU. She's been bridging her construction workflow knowledge with AWS and IoT, building projects that connect the physical world to the cloud. This is her first AWS User Group talk and she's bringing a live demo.
