Rob and Oisín from Version 1 will talk about the automation framework they’ve built to help manage their AWS customers. Using Terraform, Puppet, Jenkins, and internal tools Version 1 are able to automate, control, and audit deployments to AWS.

AWS is one of the most popular platforms for MongoDB deployments. In this talk Joe will give a brief overview of MongoDB and then go into detail on what users need to do to maximise their performance and data resilience in an AWS context.

Title: Workflows with Configuration Management Tools

Abstract: In Rapid7 we use a collection of tools for configuration management, in particular Chef. We will look into how as a startup we utilised Chef for creating our development environment, and used the same process for going to production. Continuing on into the lessons learned from following this workflow and how we currently go from development to production. Also looking into our Chef cookbook development process and how we use the Jenkins DSL and kitchen for testing infrastructure code.

Bio: Joe Heung is a DevOps Engineer in Logentries who were recently acquired by Rapid7 with a main focuses on automation in the cloud. Joe holds a Masters Degree in Information and Communications Technologies from Waterford Institute of Technology.
