AWS Step Functions in Action (Hands-on Demo)

Description: AWS Step Functions is a serverless orchestrator which can coordinate various moving bits across our application and execute them as per your business logic in a decoupled fashion. Through its visual interface, you can create and run a series of checkpoints and event-driven workflows that maintain the application state. The output of one step acts as an input to the next. Each step in your application executes in order, as defined by your business logic.

In this hands on session, we will use Step Function to design an escalation matrix which will start out by sending off automated message blasts like Emails (via SES), SMS (via SNS), Slack Message (via Lambda) etc and then depending on the business unit, send notifications to the respective business owners. If at one level, the contacted owner doesn’t pick up the case, we will reach out to the next person in the escalation matrix until the issue is picked up and addressed. We will encapsulate all of this business logic into AWS Step Functions.
