AWS User Group UK Meetup #46

Our first meetup of 2021 will again be online. We have two fantastic talks for you. We are delighted to have Archana (Archie) Arakkal (@arakkal05) who will be sharing her insights into implementing ML in production. Our second talk will be by the amazing Ping-zhou (Jade) Liu (@applegreengrap2) who will be presenting how to use Terraform to handle your mandatory tagging.

Talk 1:

Machine Learning in Production using AWS services with Archie Arakkal

Archana Arakkal will be uncovering how she is utilized AWS services in order to implement Machine Learning use cases in fast and seamless manner. The two specific use case she will be talking to are : Real time decisioning and Fraud detection. Archana will also be highlighting through out the talk how software engineering concepts are still very much relevant in the Machine learning space and the catalogue of AWS services at disposal makes this an ideal environment for Machine learning projects to scale.

Archana Arakkal is a Practice Lead Engineer for the Intelligent Data division at Synthesis software technologies. She has worked across multiple industrial sectors namely the financial services, mining, healthcare RnD etc.. bringing with her five years of experience in product engineering, cloud, data, AI, RnD and product implementation. Her current focus is on artificial intelligence (AI), AI education and responsibly getting AI systems into production. She is recognised for her AI expertise. She holds a Masters in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and she holds numerous certificates, including in Big Data and AWS.
Current AWS certifications: AWS Developer Associate, AWS Solution Architect Assosiate, AWS Big Data Specialty, AWS ML Specialty and AWS Security Specialty

Talk 2:
Using a Terraform Custom Provider to Handle Your Mandatory Tagging with Ping-zhou Liu (Jade)

Terraform is a powerful state machine that makes API requests and marshals resources. An terraform provider is the front-end for API interactions. Let's dive into it by building a provider ourselves to interact with your custom API. During the talk, we will build a terraform resource together.

Pingzhou (Jade) is a Senior DevOps Engineer who worked with various organizations from publishers, insurance, energy to government sectors for digital transformation projects. Practical experiences with CI/CD automation, various DevOps tools, microservices, and serverless architecture.
