We have another two amazing talks for you in July. Firstly, we are delighted to have John Walker (@zz9) from CirrusHQ who will be sharing his tips on migrating to AWS. Our second speaker will be Boyke Dian Triwahyudhiv (@mboi_coy) from Autodesk, who will be sharing his insights on SRE.

Talk 1:

Migrating to AWS: Pitfalls and Tips with John Walker

Covering Migrating to AWS from on-premise or hosting solutions based on recent Migration experiences, when migrating applications that have been built over 20 years. Using a recent example of a 20 year old LAMP stack, we'll cover what to look out for when migrating, what AWS supports (and more importantly doesn't support), tips for using the various AWS Services that support Migration, including CloudEndure / Application Migration Service, the Database Migration Service and open source tools such as rsync to move applications and data over to AWS.

John is an APN Ambassador, Professional Services Team Lead and Solutions Architect. John has a passion for cloud technology and new more efficient ways of working. He works with the Well-Architected Partner Program, Guided Onboarding program and AWS Immersion days to help customers gain the most out of their cloud journey.

Talk 2:

Effective SRE, to Save the Error Budget with Boyke Dian Triwahyudhiv

One of the main responsibilities of SRE is to handle an incident. By creating a proper production environment and defining a proper process to handle - will reduce the overall time to resolve and eventually, will save the error budget.

Production issues are inevitable, it can be a bug, human error, or maybe a security issue. But regardless of the root cause, a production issue can be treated in a common framework (utilising the tools, process and the people).

Boyke is a Senior DevOps in Autodesk, responsible for maintaining CICD and the infrastructure for the Data-Integration team. He believes for something that can't be automated, should be well-defined and the process should be crystal clear. In his spare time, he's trying to build Cloud that designed from a DevOps perspective.
