'If Mack and Parker had a podcast' Meetup

Details
How many times have you looked up said to yourself: ‘If only Mack Flavelle and Parker Thompson had a podcast, everything would be okay’?
Well, wish no more, friends. That day has come.
On Wednesday, September 12, Mack and Parker are sitting down for a loose, wide-ranging chat in the Axiom Zen office and we want you to come. Okay, okay, it’s not podcast...but it’s close.
Some of the topics Parker and Mack promise to cover include:
- The current climate for investing in companies outside of the Bay Area
- The next “big thing” on investors’ radars (VR was a bust, the chatbot craze has passed, and blockchain winter is coming. What’s next?)
- Why all VCs wear that vest (seriously, what gives? Are you all in a band after hours?)
- Some useful contrarian advice for founders looking to raise money
- Mack and Parker role play

Mack bio:
Mack Flavelle is CryptoKitties’ resident fat cat. He is also affectionately known as a CryptoKitties co-founder and current owner of the glorious mind that conceived of bringing adorable, breedable, and verifiably special Kitties to the blockchain.
Before his life revolved around digital cats, Mack worked at a bunch of leading tech companies. He started a location-based games company, Compass Engine (which sold to East Side Games), advised GhostBird Software (acquired by Yahoo), taught Game Design at The Art Institute, advised Y Combinator-backed company CareLedger, and worked as VP of Marketing at Tapstream, a mobile analytics company.
He also doesn’t wear shoes in the office.
Parker bio:
Parker Thompson is a well-known Silicon Valley-based seed investor (Algolia, Shippo, Realty Shares, Breather [Canada represent!] and many more). He invests broadly across sectors, with an emphasis on B2B companies. Parker is also a part-time partner at AngelList, where he works with the site’s investor network to help invest their “venture index” funds.
Parker previously ran the renowned 500 Startups accelerator program in San Francisco, led sales and business development at Pivotal ($PVTL), was a senior engineer building technology and teams at Pivotal, and built large-scale storage systems and web crawlers at the Internet Archive back in the day.
Oh, and he was the brains behind @StartupLJackson. You might have followed him.
