What we’re about
Summer pause 2025: July and August!
Welcome to the Objectivism Vienna Meetup Group!
We are a growing community of individuals interested in the philosophy of Ayn Rand—Objectivism—and how it applies to life, culture, and current events.
We meet weekly to explore themes such as individualism, reason, rational self-interest, capitalism, art, and ethics. Whether you're a seasoned reader of Rand or just curious, you're welcome to join the conversation.

FIRST EVENT AFTER THE SUMMER BREAK
Does a robot need morality? Ayn Rand answers that question (and many others) in her essay "The Objectivist Ethics", which is the basis for this meetup. Is there an objective basis for morality or is everything simply based on emotions?
We are used to talking about moral issues and politics without ever defining what morality even is. But we are all living beings with a precious value to uphold: life. Once we take this one value seriously we can proceed to measure everything else with regard to it: whether something is good or bad, a rational value to be pursued or destructive to us.
If we ever want to live in a rational and happy society with freedom for the individual, this society will have to take the nature of morality very seriously. So let's have a serious discussion about the nature of morality in this first meetup after the summer.
