Day trip to Horseshoe Lake with optional camping

Details
I was going to do this trip after the Overland Expo but this area closes on May 15th.
Let's do an easy day trip and hit some dirt. I have never been out to Horseshoe Lake but the lake is currently full.
Official Meetup Spot will be the Shell Gas Station:
7201 E Cave Creek Rd, Carefree, AZ 85377 Depart at 9:30 am.
We will take the scenic drive up FR 205 to the lake and explore the area. There is an opportunity to walk under the flowing dam. There are also several offshoot trails nearby.
For those that want to get together early for breakfast, I am going to be at the Black Mountain Coffee Shop at 8am. It is just south of the Shell Station.

Adjacent Trail: FR 479
This is on the east side of Horseshoe. Not sure if the river is low enough to cross. We will check it out. More technical but looks like a fun area to explore. Time permitting we may try to check this trail out.
