Dear Azure User Group Bern Members,

We are back from the summer break! 🌴

In this special edition meetup, tech communities on both side of the Röstigraben come together bringing fascinating tech-talks about AI.
Together with the Silicon Chalet we are happy to welcome you to Adnovum Bern for an event dedicated to real world AI use cases. Two in-depth yet accessible talks, a warm setting, and the perfect opportunity to connect with other tech enthusiasts from both side of the Saarine.

Talk 1 –Agentic Modernisation with GitHub Copilot
🎤 Antoine Combremont (Microsoft) (EN)
Application modernisation remains a top priority for many organisations, but legacy codebases, limited engineering capacity, and growing technical debt often make transformation difficult and time-consuming. GitHub Copilot and emerging agentic capabilities are changing this equation by helping teams modernise applications faster, more consistently, and at greater scale.
In this session, we will explore how the Agentic Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) is evolving and how GitHub Copilot can accelerate modernisation initiatives across the application lifecycle. From understanding and assessing existing applications to refactoring, code transformation, testing, and documentation, attendees will learn where AI can provide the greatest impact and what it takes to adopt these capabilities successfully.

Talk 2 – From Policy to Proof: Building an AI Compliance Rules & Validation Engine with Claude Code and Azure Native Services
🎤 Daniel Hogg (Adnovum) (EN)
This talk demonstrates how to develop an AI Compliance Rules & Validation Engine using Claude Code and Azure Native Services in a fast time-boxed manner. The resulting PoC application shows how complex policy documents can be turned into deterministic, auditable compliance checks. We start with the business context, then walk you through a live end-to-end demo from policy ingestion to rule execution and explainable results. Afterwards, we'll explain how the application was developed using Claude code and how the architecture looks like based on Azure Native Services. We end with lessons learned from building the system and advice on using AI to accelerate architecture decisions, implementation speed, and reliability.
