Azure Thursday - May 2023

After April's community day last month, the May edition of Azure Thursday will take place on (again) the second Thursday of the month due to the first Thursday coinciding with Remembrance day.

For our May event, we are welcomed by OGD at their Utrecht office. We will be communicating our second speaker shortly, but we are very happy that the freshly elected community hero of 2023, Dinant Paardenkooper, is willing to show us the ropes around AKS security.

Title: A real-world story on AKS security
"Kubernetes", you hear, read and see it everywhere. But what exactly is it and what can you do with it? And how does this relate to the Microsoft Azure landscape? Looking for answers? Then we would like to invite you on May 11, 2023! On this evening we would like to take you along with an inspired speaker (Dinant Paardenkooper) through a use case in the world of (AKS) Kubernetes. From theory to practice with tips and tricks out of the field. Get inspired!

Title: Destructive testing with testcontainers
We've all been there: needing to test a piece of software that has external dependencies, like a database or an API.

And it always starts hopeful, a small mock here, a little setup there, but before you know it, it has spiraled out-of-control and has become a hot mess of hard-to-read setup code and mocked data. And all because we can’t run destructive tests on our live environments.

In this talk we will dive deeper into why this is a problem and how testcontainers can help not only solve this problem but also how testcontainers could start replacing your test environment.

After the session you will be able to start leveraging testcontainers in your solutions.
