These are the first events we will hold under the slightly revised format that focuses on foreign, independent and (mainly) non-English language films. As such, we might have to work out a few kinks, but I am posting this now so members can have the chance to provide feedback.

The first proposed film is Solo, a Quebecois film by up and coming director Sophie Dupuis, set in Montreal's gay and drag scene. Wed, October 25th, 4:30 pm at the Bytowne.

The second film, a Cannes Palme d'Or winner last May, is Anatomy of a Fall, a murder mystery and psychological thriller from France. Wed, November 1st, 6 pm at the Bytowne. (Note that this film is 2.5 hours long.)

Both of these films played at TIFF and garnered strong reviews - but were not among the 28 films I saw over 9 days ;) By the way, "Solo" won the Best Canadian Feature prize at TIFF. You can find further trailers and more details on the films at www.bytowne.ca

Please RSVP and also comment on which films you will attend. I have proposed a 4:30 pm start time for the first movie, but am not sure how many members would be unable to come due to work commitments at that time. It might be possible to shift to a later time on another date.

The idea is to leave time to discuss the film among members over coffee or drinks after the screening. I will propose a location for such a discussion closer to the date.
