Do you still ask yourselves how blockchains work and how people actually use them ?
Do you wonder if this technology really lives up to its promises ?
Are you interested in the study of conflict and cooperation between intelligent rational decision-makers? The blockchain ecosystem is full of interactive situations in which independent actors share more-or-less formal rules and consequences.
If you’d like to grasp the subtleties of those interactions, come to the third edition of HIVE’s Blockchain in Practice, where we’ll discuss game theory applied to blockchain in general and in consensus & governance mechanisms in particular.

Please note that the Introduction to Blockchain takes place during the welcoming Networking session. Therefore, arriving at 13:30 is an option for those not interested by either of these.
► Our main speaker this time is Dr Jamsheed Shorish, an experienced university teacher with a background in computational finances & mathematics. He will be talking about game theory, what impact it has on our daily lives and how it can be applied to rule consensus mechanisms.
His presentation will end with a discussion panel gathering various individuals who will dig deeper into this topic.
► Panel members:
- Jamsheed Shorish: PhD, CEO and Founder @ Shorish research
- Wanting Huang: Blockchain Lead @ Accenture
- Andries Van Humbeeck: Blockchain consultant @ The Ledger
- Tilen Cuk: PhD Candidate @Perelman Centre for Legal Philosophy
► Decred will be one of the projects presenting itself.
Since 2016, Decred has striven to solve blockchain governance. Their innovative, hybrid proof-of-work/proof-of-stake consensus voting system empowers stakeholders and allows for the seamless transition from one set of rules to another.
► Giveth is another project presenting during the event.
Giveth is a Decentralized Altruistic Community (DAC). The team’s drive is defined as supporting transparency, open-source development, co-creation, and collaboration.
The Giveth community is building a software system, using Ethereum smart contracts, that will radically shift the way people think charity can and should work.
In addition to all those presentations, different stands will interact with the audience during the breaks.
Early Bee tickets are available for the first 50 participants.
More details will follow in the coming days. Stay tuned!
See you there!
