WTF?! - Designing constructive responses to bias, after traumatic events

We're kicking off our Fall series with a conversation about the one that’s constantly on our minds:

How might we constructively deal with and respond to this tumultuous political and social climate?

It seems like every day we wake up to national tragedies like Charlottesville or violence against communities of color, accompanied by tweets and notifications that grow the divide against difference, rather than bring us together. It’s easy to be overwhelmed, and opt to sit idly by - but we want to do something about it!

Join us in a 2-month series where, using the same design sprint framework from our monthly workshops, we’ll design constructive responses to bias, after national tragedies.

Our speaker for this series, is Gabriel Arteaga, CEO of Create& (http://www.createand.co/), and former political staffer and community organizer. In 2015 Gabe worked as a National Manager for Civic Engagement where he secured a grant to go on a year-long trip around the Country, engaging with communities in conversations around difference. The lessons he gained from his experience taught him a lot about designing constructive responses to bias, which we hope will inspire you as you contribute your own.
