Wild Swimming at Torduff Resevoir
Details
Join us for a fun and refreshing dip in the beautiful water of Torduff Reservoir.
NOTE: Please bring warm clothes to warm up after the swim. Although the water is not so cold in summer, you can still feel chilly after if you don't warm up. Sandals/flipflops are also recommended as the shore is rocky.
The reservoir can be accessed by the number 16 bus in Edinburgh. We will meet there at 7pm and from there the reservoir is a chill 15 minute forest walk away, with lovely views of the whole city.
FAQs:
What are the benefits of wild swimming?
Wild swimming triggers a massive surge of endorphins with a relaxing come down, allowing your mind to reset from the stresses of the day and from any negative cycles it finds itself in. It also helps blood flow, joint health and sleep quality.
How long should I stay in?
This varies person to person as we all have different cold tolerances. Some people want to push it to the limit whereas others prefer a more relazed experience. For us the goal is fun rather than competition and so each person can stay in the water for as long or as short a time as they prefer.
How deep is the water?
The reservoir ranges in depth but the section we enter has a gentle gradient, allowing for many different levels of immersion. It is also very close to a section which is full body depth, for those who enjoy full body immersion.
How beautiful is the location?
You can see in the image above that it is very beautiful. There is also a lovely waterfall right next to the swimming spot which we will visit.
How can I get there?
The reservoir can be accessed by the number 16 bus or by driving and parking near the bus stop. From there it is a short walk with beautiful city views.
