The New York Scottish Country Dancing Meetup Group Weekly Meetup

Details
A warm welcome to our “Summer Socials” for anyone who has any experience doing Scottish Country Dancing. On Mondays from July 7 through August 18, we will aim to do at least ten dances each night. Although all dances will be taught, some dances will be too difficult for beginners and this will be announced before partners are taken. Come and enjoy the fun! Anyone who has ever danced Scottish country dancing with us before or elsewhere will be comfortable, as will other country dancers, e.g. English, contra and square dancers. (Please remember to bring soft-soled shoes.)
****Please note that for the Summer season we will not be offering formal dance instruction! Anyone who would like to try Country Dancing for the first time is encouraged to wait until September to join us, when our usual dance classes resume. Do join the meetup group now so you will be kept informed about the 2014-15 dance year.
From September until June the group offers the chance to enjoy and learn Scottish dancing in a relaxed and social setting. We do a warm up which includes a simple dance with everyone and then teach steps, patterns, and dances in a beginner class for part of the evening. After the beginner session there's time for refreshments and to socialize and make new friends and then to do one more dance with everyone. Meanwhile during the beginner class more experienced dancers have their class in the other room.
