$5 suggested donation (100% of which will go to the top-nominated group)

Let’s give Thanks4Good and celebrate local nonprofits and social change groups that do amazing — yet often unrecognized — work with technology.

We asked the PDXTech4Good community to nominate nonprofits and social good groups for their outstanding use of tech. Four weeks later we received 20 nominations for 19 remarkable groups and an overwhelming 500+ voting submissions!

The five orgs with most votes are: Free Geek, App Camp For Girls, Autism Service Dogs of America, Street Roots, and Aloha Community Library Association.

We hope to see you at the Thanks4Good celebration. Everyone is welcome. We’ll have celebratory treats, prizes, hear short presentations from the top five ranked orgs, and have plenty of time to chat with reps from other nominated groups and tech for good supporters.

After the voting process we’ll encourage the community to help raise a bit of money in recognition of the top vote-getter. (The PDXTech4Good organizer team, Bethany, Jade, and Ivan, has pledged $100 to the winner. We will also solicit a $5 suggested donation at the door of the Thanks4Good event.)

Please donate to Free Geek for receiving the most votes: http://pitchinbox.com/pages/3531531066 .

What you'll get out of PDXTech4Good events

Nonprofit staffers will find a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for those not experienced with technology, and many chances to ask questions of tech-experienced nonprofits and experts.

Techies will find opportunities to hear the real-world stories of nonprofit clients, and put their own expertise to social good — as well as the potential for lasting relationships (be they paid or volunteer) with leading organizations in our community.

Activists and community organizers will see and be given the chance to present on successful uses of technology for social change. We'll explore how technology can help support activism and where activism can push it forward.
