Here is the 411 on Briar.

I make applications, and specialize in solving hard problems quickly. I've built technology on web, Android, iOS, and even SMS platforms. I make it my business to understand a technology from backend to frontend; from unit tests to deployment. My goals are to build systems that have large positive social impact while increasing the reach and diversity of the technology.

I'm proud to be a social justice activist with the privilege to be part of a great community. I volunteer a significant amount of my time to user groups and projects that I believe make the world a better place. Some days I'm attending talks about increasing diversity in tech, and other days I am speaking about increasing privacy on the Internet.

WHAT YOU'LL GET OUT OF PDXTECH4GOOD EVENTS

Nonprofit staffers will find a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for those not experienced with technology, and many chances to ask questions of tech-experienced nonprofits and experts.

Techies will find opportunities to hear the real-world stories of nonprofit clients, and put their own expertise to social good — as well as the potential for lasting relationships (be they paid or volunteer) with leading organizations in our community.

Activists and community organizers will see and be given the chance to present on successful uses of technology for social change. We'll explore how technology can help support activism and where activism can push it forward.
