Climate Tech Challenges

Details
We are meeting at 42 Lisbon, the coolest coding camp in the world, where nerds collaborate on projects to train themselves to be world class coders. This is THE PERFECT location to explore climate challenges confronting Portugal.
Join us at 42 Lisbon, where we invite you to be a part of an inspiring gathering focused on addressing the unique climate-related challenges faced by Portugal and exploring innovative startup solutions.
Portugal is the fourth most deforested nation on earth, with more than 60% of its land area bare of trees. It faces drought, desertification, wildfires, and intense heat. While 60% of its energy today comes from renewable sources, land regeneration, water conservation, and energy efficiency remain crtitical challenges.
Across the nation, Alentejo faces desertification, cork trees are in decline due to soil degredation, and reduced rainfall across the Iberian peninsula are draining rivers, reservoirs, and acquifers. Portugal is trying to develop carbon credit markets but its regulatory environment restricts land regeneration to protect pine and ecualyptus trees used in the paper industry, severly restricting opportunities to improve the land and CO2 sequestration.
Event Agenda:
1. The Challenges Facing Portugal - Steven Adler, Event Host
2. Some Solutions:
- Water Conservation - Thiago Marques, greenmetrics.io
- EcoVillages - Alexandre Ferreira da Silva, Ananda Valley EcoVillage
- Land Regeneration - Mathias Ali Davesne, Regen Waves
The goal of this event is to explore challenges and solutions that may not be well known in an interactive dialog where everyone is welcome to ask questions and participate.
Speaker Bios:
