Portugal's Voluntary Carbon Markets

Details

Portgual is the only nation in the world to include a carbon removal target in its Net Zero Plan. A year ago, the government of Portugal declared it's intent to create a voluntary carbon market regulatory environment to fulfill that target, and on January 4th the government issued a legal and regulatory framework paving the way for Portugal to become a leader in carbon removal.

A voluntary carbon market in Portugal is an opportunity to apply private investment to the regeneration of land and ocean resources that can reduce CO2, improve biodiversity, and generate new income sources for communities.

We are fortunate to have two experts speakers to explore this exciting new opportunity.

Manuel Gouveia Pereira is Of Counsel and Head of Environment, Climate Change & ESG at GPA Law Firm. He has been a lawyer in prestigious Law Firms for more than twenty years, specialising in environmental, sustainability and environmental compliance matters. He has extensive experience working with private industry, government (where he served as Legal Advisor) and the EU.

Leehe Skuler is a climate finance expert who has developed carbon credit solutions in Africa and Europe. She is the co-founder of the Global Impact Tech Alliance, and a Climate Scientific Advisor to Peakbridge Venture Capital.
