What is a Blockchain? It is technology developed to allow digital information – often sensitive information – to be distributed but not copied. You might be familiar with Bitcoin – the most well-known crytpocurrency, a secure online digital currency. Blockchain technology was invented for Bitcoin transactions, but developers are now using it for a variety of other tech-related initiatives.

The aim of this evening is to introduce you to Blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies and suggest some resources to help build your knowledge.We will show you what you can expect from this meetup group, give a brief Blockchain intro and overview of the cryptocurrency world. We will also meet the Blockchain developer team, UppCoin, who will present their fascinating project. Finally, we will have a moderated discussion/debate about the future of Blockchain technology and Bitcoin. Investors debate about whether or not the cryptocurrency world is a bubble that could burst. We invite skeptics and fans alike to join the discussion.

We are excited to start developing the first blockchain forum in Budapest!

As a Blockchain enthusiast and the organizer of the meetup group, Mihaly will open the event, speak about future meetups and share his personal connection with the technology.

18:10-18:40 Tamas Czegledi (https://www.linkedin.com/in/tamasczegledi/) (COO, UppCoin) "Blockchain in Practice"

Tamas is the COO of UppCoin, and he is also a founding member of MENSA Blockchain Interest Group and Blockchaineum.hu. UppCoin is a Blockchain based P2P retail application incubated in CEU InnovationsLab and expected to be launched in November.

Tamas holds an MA in international studies, MSc in finance and MBA from CEU. He is focusing on CFA validation and exploring all that Blockchain has to offer. He will speak about Blockchain in general, mentioning use cases and specific applications at UppCoin.

18:40-19:10 UppCoin team (Noellar Kappa (https://www.linkedin.com/in/noellarkappa/), Manshul Arora (https://www.linkedin.com/in/manshul-arora/))

Noellar Kappa (CEO, UppCoin) studies cryptography at ELTE with the EIT Digital Master School (EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology). She is also doing an MBA at the University of South Wales, UK and got a degree in cyber security at the University of Trento. As part of her research, she wrote a paper on scaling Blockchains.

Manshul Arora (CFO, UppCoin) is working on a Masters in finance at CEU. He has also studied civil engineering in India and has vast prior project management work experience.
