Hike the Abyss Trail

Details
The Abyss Lake Trail is a popular fall leaf peeping trail! We will hike around 6 miles and 1200+ feet of elevation gain. The Abyss trailhead provides access for the Abyss Trail (sometimes referred to as the Scott Gomer trail) and the Burning Bear Trail within the Mount Evans Wilderness.
Group size limit is 15 so we will have two groups...leatherbacks and tortoises!
Dog Free Hike... Please leave your baby dog at home for Baby Boomer hikes.
What to bring...Come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, waterproof boots, hiking poles, microspikes, backpack, snacks and water. Make sure you have in your pack in case you need it - extra warm gear, hat, gloves, extra socks, and extra layers, etc. Make it the best experience possible by being prepared!
Carpooling: Arrange carpools from your neighborhood or another convenient meeting place. It's leaf peeping time so parking will be limited!
Bring snacks/lunch to enjoy on the trail amongst the golden leaves!
Directions to Trailhead: From Denver, drive southwest on US 285 approximately 40 miles to Grant. Turn right (north) onto Park County 62 (towards Guanella Pass). The Abyss Trailhead is approximately 5.5 miles north on the Guanella Pass Road.
See you there!
