Hike Caribou Ranch

The Caribou Ranch Open Space Park is located between Nederland and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. This is an easy/moderate hike of 4.5 miles round trip with very little elevation gain. No Dogs Allowed on this trail.
Dog Free Hikes...Please leave your baby dogs at home for Baby Boomer hikes.
What to bring...Come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, waterproof boots, hiking poles, microspikes, backpack and snacks, and water. Rain gear, poles, hat and extra layers could be helpful.
Carpooling: Arrange your own carpool from your neighborhood or plan a carpool from the Eldorado park and ride parking lot · Near Eldorado Corner Market located at 1682 S Foothills Hwy (dirt lot at hwy 93 and 170/Marshall Road).
Directions to Trailhead: From Boulder, head up the Boulder Canyon (Canyon Blvd./Highway 119) toward Nederland. Zero your odometer. Drive up the canyon and around Barker Dam to the first traffic circle in Nederland (17.3 miles). Take the second right at the traffic circle, Highway 72/Peak to Peak Highway. Could be some fall colors! It's 1.9 miles to the turnoff for County Road 126. (0.2 of a mile from the traffic circle, you'll see a sign for "Caribou", ignore that. Look for the sign for "Caribou Ranch Open Space" about 1.8 miles from the traffic circle) Take the dirt County Road 126, 0.9 miles to the entrance to Caribou Ranch Open Space.
Bring snack/lunch to enjoy at the Blue Bird Mine near the creek. Bring a mat so we can sit for at least 20-30 minutes and enjoy the sound of the water.
