Details
Turkey Day Hike! A moderately difficult trail of 4 miles and 1200 feet of elevation gain leading past spectacular views of the canyon and eastern plains to the remains of historic Crags hotel.
Built in 1908, the hotel was accessed via an inclined railway from the canyon floor until it burned down in 1913. The trail continues to a view of the Continental Divide and the railroad tracks, 1,200 feet above the trailhead.
Dog Free Hikes...Please leave your baby dogs at home for Baby Boomer hikes.
Park Entrance Fee: Entrance fee or free with Colorado Keep it Wild Pass.
Parking at the Trailhead: Limited parking at the trailhead and additional parking along the road and at the Visitor Center. Allow yourself time to park and walk to the TH. Toilets at TH!
Carpooling: Form your own carpool from your neighborhood or make plans to meet others at the Eldorado Park n Ride (across the street from the Eldorado Corner Store).
Directions: Eldorado Canyon State Park is located just southwest of Boulder on CO 170. Head west on CO 170 from Highway 93 following signs to Eldorado Canyon. The road is dirt when you enter the small town of Eldorado Springs - keep driving toward the Ranger Station into the park.
What to bring...Colorado weather changes quickly! Please come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, waterproof boots, hiking poles, microspikes, backpack and food/water. Make sure you have in your pack in case you need it - rain jacket, rain pants, warm hat, extra gloves, extra socks, and extra layers. Time to pack the snowshoe in your car in case we need them! Make it the best hiking experience possible by being prepared!
